Some important questions to ask any home care provider:
Home care choices can be difficult and we know there are several options available to you. To help you, the National Private Duty Association recommends you ask questions of your prospective home care providers including:
- How do you recruit your caregivers? StarResource recruits and carefully screens qualified caregivers. See STAFF for more information.
- Should a scheduling conflict occur, are there trained back-up caregivers? StarResource has multi-layered coverage to ensure that there are no gaps due to illness or scheduling conflicts.
- Are your caregivers bonded and insured? StarResource ensures that all caregivers are bonded and insured.
- Are the caregivers employees of the provider and who handles payroll and required taxes for the caregiver? All of our caregivers are employees of StarResource. We handle all payroll and tax withholding as part of our service fee.
- What type of background checks and screening do you do? StarResource caregivers undergo rigorous screening and background checks prior to joining our team.
As a consumer, you should also be mindful of the questions your home care provider asks you:
Are they interested in your loved one's lifestyle and hobbies?
Are they concerned about your situation and how they can be most helpful?
Do you feel comfortable with their ability to adapt to changing conditions and needs?
